Um, really boring. It was pretty and all, but at the end of the day, I guess it is just an over-priced resort on a man-made, palm-shaped island. Everything to do there required an absurd amount of money, which we eventually decided was not worth spending. Parking was £150, entrance to the aquarium was £100, a salad at one of the restaurants was £85. So, instead of wasting an absurd amount of money, we decided to find parking at a nearby lot, take silly photos outside, sneak around the front entrance/lobby area until we got kicked out for taking photos (teehee), then headed to the Dubai Marina instead. There was much more to do and see at the Marina, anyway..and it was all free! Moral of the story: contrary to what most people think; you don’t need to spend a ridiculous amount of money to see the best of Dubai! Just some of the few shots I got while there.

Cool, is that inspired by Antlantis on Paradise Island (another man-made (I think) island off of Nassau, Bahamas)? They also have lots of Chihuly there (which I think that sea monster looking sculpture in your 2nd picture is?)! Not as expensive as Dubai, but still way overpriced. Good for you for getting inspiration elsewhere ^_^

Thanks!! My Omi (Grandma) gave it to me. And i love the stuff she gives me because they’re so old fashioned. When do you see people wearing regular watches that aren’t all blinged out lol. The last necklace she gave me was 40 years old. mmm vintage lol

hi
Overall it’s an informative post and i do agree what has been said over here. But i believe that signs of a market slowdown has been there since the beginning of the summer 2008. Also many fears that it is primarily due to liquidity crunch in the market as well as the Dubai property investors sentiment being low due to global economic slowdown. But you know that i consider it as temporary halt in the real estate investment activity and will recover from it, as the fundamentals of Dubai property market are quite strong then other global property markets.
Thanks

hah, this is just too funny. i found your blog through theo, and been scrolling through some pages tonight. and then whoa! i see my old neighbourhood, jumeriah beach residency in dubai. haha, i lived in the house right behind that horse sculpture (i watched that man making it, from my window. all made out of car tires, crazy!).
and yes you’re right, the fun things in dubai were the ones for free.
