This December, I’ll be making my yearly visit to the Middle East. Last year, my family told me of an interesting island called Socotra, which is known as Yemen’s Galapagos. I wasn’t able to make the trip there last year, but this year I’ll finally have the chance to do so. The island has been called “The most alien-looking place on Earth” because it is so isolated that a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet! I am beyond excited to visit and photograph this beautiful island.

So cool. When I was a kid, I loved to just look at atlases. I noticed Socotra, and thought “I bet that’s a cool place”, but that was in the days before the internet! Never did see a picture.
Only recently have I gone looking for pictures, and the reality exceeds the imagination!
