Hello from the future! I guess a lot of my newer readers don’t know that I was in Dubai last summer so, if you want to see entries from my last visit, head over to the Dubai category and check out those posts!
I’m so surprised at how much has changed–I was here less than a year ago! Unfortunately, the workers are pushed like slaves to work day and night, so progress over half a year is about the same as the progress we’d make in America over two years! When arriving in Dubai, I went through the brand new Emirates terminal. It was goooorgeouuuus, everything was so shiny and brand new, I was amazed at how much work was put into a freakin’ terminal. Then, the Dubai Mall, crowned the world’s largest, has now been opened to the public. I headed over to see it for myself when I landed yesterday and to my surprise, not all of the retailers have opened the stores yet! I’m assuming this is because of the current economic situation. I was also surprised at how empty the mall was on a Friday night. Perhaps Dubai isn’t as invincible as the rest of the world believes–the people who were there, were not shopping at. all. Anyways, there’s really not much to say about the mall..it’s what you’d expect from the biggest mall in the world. Any and every high-end designer, large corporate retailer–you name it, it’s there. Ridiculous!
Here’s a glimpse of the new Emirates terminal:
Crazy, right?! I mean, trust me guys, I love shiny things, but this is a bit much for just one airline’s terminal!!

And of course, the Dubai Mall. Complete with a full-size aquarium, four floors filled with over 1,200 stores, an ice-skating rink, a gold souk..I couldn’t even finish walking through the entire thing!
There’s also a few leftovers on flickr, but keep checking back, I’ll be updating regularly. Time to watch soccer with my dad!
